Το Studio Matejka με έδρα το Wroclaw της Πολωνίας τελεί υπο την αιγίδα του Ινστιτούτου Grotowski και παρουσιάζει τις παραστάσεις η τα εργαστήρια του στους ιστορικούς χώρους στο Wroclaw η την Brzezinka αλλα και σε επιλεγμενους χώρους σ’όλο τον κόσμο. Ετσι ακριβώς παράλληλα με το εργαστήρι σωματικού θεάτρου Contra/Dictions στην Αθήνα τον περασμένο Μάη παρουσιάστηκε στο Αθηναικό κοινό η παράσταση «Χαρμολύπη» στον «Ειλισσό» . Η παράσταση είχε κάνει πρεμιέρα τον περασμένο Φλεβάρη στο Wroclaw στο Ινστιτούτο Grotowski.

«Το άτομο απέναντι στην ομάδα»
Περιγραφή
Αποδομώντας το έδαφος του σώματος και της φωνής, θα ψάξουμε να αποκαλύψουμε τα βασικά εργαλεία του καλλιτέχνη. Στην προσέγγιση του μουσικού, θα εργαστούμε για την καθημερινή πρακτική της ψυχικής και σωματικής ρύθμισης του σώματος / νου μέσα από την ακρίβεια, την εστίαση και πειθαρχία. Με βάση τα θεμελιώδη στοιχεία από τη φυσική εργαστηριακή έρευνα του Studio Matejka, έχουμε ως στόχο να αποκαλύψουμε διαλόγους ανάμεσα στο χώρο, το χρόνο, τον ήχο, και την ομάδα. Ψάχνοντας για το σημείο όπου ο ερμηνευτής συναντά τα δικά του ανθρώπινα όρια, είναι μέσω των «κατασκευών» και της πλατφόρμας της ομάδας που θα προχωρήσει, πέρα απο περιορισμούς, στη δημιουργία δράσεων. Σε αυτή την φάση της εργασίας, θα επικεντρώσουμε στη σύνθεση των σωματικών και φωνητικών δράσεων που περιστρέφονται γύρω από ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα. Το θέμα αυτό θα χρησιμεύσει τόσο ως σπόρος που εμπνέει τη δημιουργική έρευνα σε υλικά (ήχου, εικόνας, κειμένου) όσο και το νήμα που υφαίνει την δραματουργική γραμμή της σύνθεσης. Η τελική υλοποίηση αυτής της φάσης θα είναι να μοιραστούμε όλο το υλικό σε μια παρουσίαση για το σχολείο.

Με βάση την εργαστηριακή πρακτική Studio Matejka και τις μεμονωμένες πρακτικές των εκπαιδευτών, οι συμμετέχοντες μπορούν να αναμένουν στοιχεία απο :
-Ashtanga Yoga σαν καθημερινή προετοιμασία του σώματος και της πλατφόρμας για την εργασία με την ενέργεια και την ευθυγράμμιση σε κίνηση
-Σωματική ρύθμιση και ακρίβεια μέσα από τα φόρμες κίνησης και ανατομική δομή
-Ασκήσεις μεταξύ μελών της ομάδας και σε σχέση με το σύνολο της ομάδας για την ανάπτυξη της σωματικής ευαισθησίας, της επικοινωνίας και διαλόγων (ρυθμός, κείμενο, ήχος, κίνηση, ώθηση, χώρος)
-Μεταμορφώσεις των δράσεων ανάμεσα σε σωματικές, μουσικές και φόρμες κειμένου.
-Την εμπλοκή της σωματικής και φωνητικής φαντασίας
-Σύνθεση σωματικών σκορ σαν «πρόχειρο» για δημιουργικό υλικό (σύλληψη, την επανάληψη, την αποδόμηση, την ανασυγκρότηση, τη μετατροπή)
-Χρήση του μοντάζ για να γεφυρώσει δημιουργικό υλικό με θεατρικές καταστάσεις

Το εργαστήρι απευθύνεται σε σχετικά προχωρημένο επίπεδο. Λόγω της εντατικής φύσης της εργασίας, προηγούμενη εμπειρία με την κίνηση, κείμενο και φωνή είναι επιθυμητή.
Description
Deconstructing the terrain of the body and voice, we will search to uncover the essential instruments of the performer. In the approach of the musician, we will work on the daily practice of the mental and physical tuning of the body/mind through precision, focus, and discipline. Drawing on fundamental elements from the physical laboratory research of Studio Matejka, we aim to uncover dialogues between space, time, sound, and the group. Searching for the point where the performer encounters his or her human borders, it is through craft and the platform of the group that one is able to go beyond limitations and create actions. In this work session, we will focus on the composition of the physical and vocal actions revolving around a specific theme. This theme will serve both as the seed that inspires the creative research into materials (audio, visual, textual) and the thread that weaves the dramaturgical line of the composition. The final realization of the work session will be a sharing of materials in a presentation for the school.
Elements
Drawing on the laboratory practice of Studio Matejka and the individual practices of the leaders, participants can expect to be introduce to elements of:
-Ashtanga Yoga as daily preparation of the body and platform for work with energy and alignment in movement
-physical tuning and precision through movement patterns and anatomical structure
-exercises in partner and group relation to develop physical sensitivity, communication, and dialogues (rhythm, text, sound, movement, impulse, space)
-metamorphoses of actions between physical, musical, and textual forms
-engaging the physical and vocal imagination
-composing physical scores as “rough draft” for creative material (capturing, repetition, deconstruction, reconstruction, transformation)
-use of montage to bridge creative material into theatrical situations
Target Group
This work session will be aimed at advanced level. Due to the intensive nature of the work, prior experience with movement, text, and voice will be necessary.

STUDIO MATEJKA
Began its activities in 2010 as a physical theater laboratory in residency with The Grotowski Institute (PL) exploring 21st century performance techniques that specifically work across borders: Borders between performance genres, borders between training techniques, and borders between individual expression and collective resonance. Through practical investigation, the performers work to develop the strength, agility and dexterity to physically ‘speak’ through a diverse range of ideas, images and vocabularies.
The Studio is led by Matej Matejka and composed of 8 performers from 7 countries. Additionally, the Studio is regularly accompanied by external affiliates. Vivien Wood (UK), Sarie Mairs Slee (UK/USA) and Milan Kozanek (SK) assist the leader in the psychophysical research. Ditte Berkeley (DK/UK) and Jarosław Fret (PL) lead music training and supervise music composition. Bryan Brown (USA) collaborates on the dramaturgy of the performances. The academic team of the Studio is supervised by Sarie Mairs Slee (USA) assisted by Torbjorn Oppedal (NOR) and Ragnhild Freng Dale (NOR) who record, contextualize and inform the laboratory research. The Studio’s film and documentary team is comprised of Adam Hanuljak (SK), Peter Kotrha (SK) and Karol Jarek (PL).

THE GROTOWSKI INSTITUTE
The Grotowski Institute, Wroclaw, is an institution which combines artistic and scholarly research projects that correspond to the challenges laid down by Jerzy Grotowski’s creative practice. The Grotowski Institute emerged out of the Centre for Study of Jerzy Grotowski’s Work and for Cultural and Theatrical Research, which existed from 1989, and operates from the former Laboratory Theatre premises located in Wroclaw’s Old Market Square, the Studio Na Grobli located in the former Wrastilavia Rowing Association, and from the historical forest base of Brzezinka. The Grotowski Institute continues the lines of work run by the Grotowski Centre, whilst placing additional emphasis on education, promotion, producing and publishing.
Giving equal focus to all these fields of activity is essential, and it is through a renewed emphasis on young people’s education and their artistic activity that the Institute is able to remain a living entity, which initiates and stimulates the development of a new generation of artists and other people devoted to culture. The Grotowski Institute is the direct and sole successor to the activities and heir to the possessions of the Grotowski Centre, and remains an organization that carries out a range of undertakings within the domains of culture, education and the arts. The Institute serves as a kind of vehicle that facilitates work on oneself.

ALEXANDRA KAZAZOU (GR/PL)
Born in Wrocław, Poland. She is half-Greek, half-Polish and studied acting in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She worked as an actor in the North National Theater and co-founded the team Asypka, a theatrical group based in Athens. She first encountered physical theatre in a workshop with Teatr Pieśń Kozła during her studies and in 2009 she went to Wrocław to enter the MA in Acting course with Pieśń Kozła in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University. Currently, a member of Studio Matejka in The Grotowski Institute, with whom she will premiere a solo performance Charmolypi in February 2013. Member of the Odra Ensemble in collaboration with Teatr Pieśń Kozła and member of Jubilo in Wrocław. Her main interest of research is focused on the function of chorus in Greek tragedy and the connection with the daily chorus of life and ensemble work. A significant inspiration and life experience was her expedition to the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba. She is a certified teacher of Ashtanga Yoga and also teaches Ancient Greek tragedy at the University of Wroclaw (ISKIO), Mediterranean Studies department.
DANIEL HAN (USA)
Born in the United States and holds B.A. Economics from Northwestern University and M.A. Acting in Physical Theatre from Manchester Metropolitan University after studying with Teatr Pieśń Kozła (Song of the Goat Theatre) in Wrocław, Poland. Raised with background in tae kwon do and classical violin, he has worked extensively throughout North America and Europe in film, theatre, and performance art projects including the 2007 Jeff-Award winning production of Equus (RedTwist Theatre) and Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 Days/365 Plays. Since 2010, he has been a collaborator with The Grotowski Institute as a researcher and performer with Studio Matejka, led by Matej Matejka (Teatr ZAR) and collaborating with Milan Kozanek (Artyci Dance Compnay) and Vivien Wood (DV8). With Studio Matejka, he co-created and performs in Awkward Happiness or Everything I Don’t Remember About Meeting You. Daniel is a founding member of Odra Ensemble, a project developed in collaboration with Teatr Pieśń Kozła, with which he co-created and performs in We Will Leave Only Bone: Reflections of Eurydice. He is the Project Leader and co-founder of Jubilo, an international artistic endeavor against social exclusion through the language of the body and sound. Past projects with Jubilo include engagements with mentally and physically disabled adults, Roma gypsy youth, and refugees of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia & Herzegovina. He was leader of the Poland group for the international Brave Kids project in Wrocław in 2010 and 2011. Led workshops for actors and dancers throughout Poland, UK, USA, Germany, Greece, Venezuela, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Daniel was awarded the Fulbright Grant from 2011-2012 for his artistic research in theatre with The Grotowski Institute, with a grant renewal from 2012-2013.
